I like the challenge of handbell ringing, and when things are going well it's easier to approach perfect striking than it is on tower bells. Also, I can do it in the comfort of my own living room, and I only have to organise half the number of ringers.
As far as I remember, I learned the basics as a teenager, and since then I have been fortunate enough to have had opportunities to improve by ringing with a variety of talented people, especially as part of Roger Bailey's band at Imperial College during the 1990s.
