This peal, currently near the top on BellBoard, has the footnote that Emma Southerington has achieved the milestone of three thousands: 1000 tower bell peals, 1000 handbell peals, and 1000 peals as conductor. The peal was her 1000th tower bell peal, and she conducted it but was already well over the mark for 1000 peals as conductor.
The footnote mentioned that Emma is the ninth person to achieve the triple thousand. A fun challenge is to try to guess the other eight. Checking your answer is helped by the list on PealBase of people who have rung 500 or more handbell peals, but then you have to cross-reference with their general record to see how many tower bell peals they have rung and how many peals they have conducted. To save you the trouble, dear reader, here is the list of the other eight people, in decreasing order of how many handbell peals they have rung (because this is a handbell blog, after all): Bernard Groves, Peter Randall, David Brown, John Mayne, Bob Smith, Frank Morton, Roger Bailey, Roger Baldwin.
Congratulations Emma!
